The game of pickleball

Pickleball can be played one-on-one or two-on-two. The principles for both are the same.

The serve

Serving always begins on the right.

A volley

After a serve, the ball must bounce on both sides of the court

before volleying can begin. A volley occurs when players

hit the ball back and forth without the ball bouncing.

When volleying, players may

not stand in the “kitchen”

Scoring

Only the serving side can score. A side scores a point when

the ball lands out of bounds, it bounces twice on the

opponent’s side, or some other fault occurs. If the serving

side loses a round, the serve goes to the other team. Matches

go to 11 and must be won by 2 points.
